The Ohio Democratic Party is seeking highly qualified and energetic people for the following positions:

Regional Field Director ____________________________________________________________________

Field staff will be based in their region.

Job duties include:

  • Planning and supervising the execution of the ODP and Ohio Coordinated Campaign’s volunteer voter contact program in our region.
  • Implementing a voter contact training program for staff, local leaders, and activists.
  • Supporting 2009 campaigns with strategic planning and tactical training for Get Out the Vote efforts
  • Working with the Regional Political Director to ensure that the ODP and the Ohio Coordinated Campaign have the support f key stakeholders.
  • Building relationships with local leaders and activists in preparation for a statewide campaign effort

Qualifications:

  • At least 1 cycle in a field staff role, preferably in Ohio.
  • Strong management skills with a focus on goal-setting and goal-achievement.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, work and play well with others, work well under pressure, be detail and goal oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; Diplomatic & professional approach to problem solving – ability to think outside the box.
  • Ideal candidates will have excellent time management & organizational skills.
  • Ideal candidates must have own transportation.
Research Assistant ____________________________________________________________________
Research assistants work from ODP headquarters in Columbus.

Responsibilities include:


  • Conducts extensive opposition research on candidates by working with a variety of public records, including campaign finance reports, corporate and business filings, news sources, and voting records, to provide politically astute analyses and written summaries
  • Tracking of opposition’s campaign schedules and attending campaign events as needed
  • Conducts in-depth donor vetting for political and finance teams
  • Works with the Research Director and other members of the department to fulfill research needs and goals

Qualifications:

  • Good time management & problem-solving skills; position requires diligence, creativity, & adaptability
  • Strong writer with the ability to condense massive amounts of information into succinct briefings
  • Ability to handle information of a highly confidential nature and work as a team player in a high-pressure work environment

Finance Assistant ____________________________________________________________________

Finance assistants are based either at ODP headquarters in Columbus or in their assigned region.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with maintenance of campaign database and donor research
  • Organize and plan campaign events
  • Assist with volunteer and intern staff
  • Prep for principle call time
  • Assist with web-based and other fundraising
  • Other campaign related activities as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be highly organized, be good team players and have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced campaign environment.
  • Strong writing and computer skills a must.
